Two or three weeks since we made mention in the Star of the death of Mr. James Green, commonly known as "Uncle Jimmy," at the County Asylum, in which we were not as explicit as the case demanded; as he had been long and favorable known by many of our older citizens. The facts are these: Mr. Green's immediate family had nearly or quite all disappeared, it was thought best to insure proper cure, that he spend his fast declining days at this insitution; and that the expense of the same he paid from his estate. This we understand was done and that the deceased was in no sense a pauper; the county neither keeping when living nor burying when dead. But as previously stated, his remains were taken to the family cemetery near Smartsburg and interred among those of his kindred. When we visited the Asylum last, we spent probably half an hour in the room of Mr. Green for the purpose of seeing his condition and the attentions bestowed and by whom. We found him under the constant eye of an inmate proper of the institution - an unfortunate man who had lost a leg - an intelligent kind-hearted Irishman by the name of Johnny Morrison. Also, that the room, bedding and all else connected therewith, was cleanly and in the best possible condition; and the sufferer, though apparently unconscious, receiving the most kindly christian attentions all probably that could have been given him had he spent his last hours among his relatives, the loved ones of home. - kbz
